MONROE, N.C. — Lake Lee in Union County is set to reopen Saturday.
The lake has been closed for months because of an extreme drought that continues to affect areas across the state.
The reopening is the next step in the City of Monroe’s drought recovery. It follows Lake Twitty which recently reopened for public recreation.
City leaders say Lake Lee will only be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Swimming will not be allowed, and boats must be less than 20 feet in length and limited to 25 horsepower or less.
Lake Monroe will remain closed to the public until further notice.
