HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — The redevelopment of Latta Place in Huntersville is officially underway.
The project, which costs more than $11 million, includes a new visitor center, interpretive trail, and memorials honoring the 65 enslaved people connected to the property.
The goal is to tell a more complete story of the site’s history.
“We understand the good and bad of this space, and being honest and transparent about that is so important,” said Nick Walker, park director.
Latta Place is expected to reopen later this year.
