HILDEBRAN, N.C. — A manufacturer with significant operations in the region is shuttering one of its North Carolina manufacturing plants.
Gildan notified state officials in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification letter dated July 10 that it will permanently close its Peds Manufacturing Group facility in Hildebran, laying off 100 workers.
The layoffs will be effective Sept. 13, according to the company’s WARN filing.
The company did not provide a reason for closing the manufacturing operation and office, which just two years ago was touted as a success story for reshoring textile jobs.
