CHARLOTTE — Legion Brewing is inching closer to opening the taproom at its $10 million facility on West Morehead Street.

That piece of the 25,000-square-foot project at the Salt + Vinegar adaptive-reuse project is more than a year behind schedule. Supply-chain issues have plagued the brewery, with a 16-month wait for kitchen equipment, says Phil Buchy, founder.
“I’ve never not hit an opening before, ever. We definitely missed this one,” he says. “It’s frustrating.”
Buchy’s optimistic the taproom at 2001 W. Morehead St. will open in March — but adds he’s not in control of the timetable. It all comes down to equipment, which he’s been assured has shipped and is set to arrive at any time.
“Then next week happens and it doesn’t show up,” Buchy says.

He says once the final pieces are in place, the taproom should be ready to open in three weeks.
