Local spots hope for boost from Black Restaurant Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Black Restaurant Week-Carolinas kicks off this weekend.

That event, which runs through May 2, looks to showcase and support Black-owned ventures while helping them boost the bottom line long term, says Falayn Ferrell, co-founder of Black Restaurant Week.

This is the first time that national organization’s campaign — called No Crumb Left Behind — is being held in Charlotte. It looks to provide a unified voice and advocate for those businesses, which have faced increased pressure from the pandemic.

It comes on the heels of Savor Black CLT, a spring restaurant week organized by Black Business Owners of Charlotte. The local group also hosts a restaurant week in the fall.

Ten restaurants have signed on thus far, including Derita Dairy Bar & Grill, Romeo’s Vegan Burger, Coordinates Coffee, 360 Lounge Reloaded, Cru Charlotte, Mr. 3′s Crabpot, Juicin’ Juice Bar, Popbar Charlotte, Exposed Vegan and Nana Morrison’s Soul Food. Applications are still being accepted. There is no fee to participate.
