RALEIGH — Jeremy Mercer, of Boone, won a $200,000 top prize after trying his luck on a digital instant game on Friday, N.C. Education Lottery officials said. Mercer claimed his winnings Tuesday at lottery headquarters.

He secured the prize on a $5 play in the “20 Years Celebration” game.

The odds of winning the top prize in the “20 Years Celebration” game were 1 in 8 million. After required federal and state tax withholdings, Mercer took home $144,021 from his win.

The “20 Years Celebration” is a digital instant game, which players access and play online.

Players can engage with the “20 Years Celebration” digital instant game with stakes ranging from 50 cents to $20.

Digital instant games are played exclusively online. Participants can access these games through the lottery’s website or by using the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
