Mac’s Speed Shop takes over vacant restaurant space near Concord Mills

CONCORD, N.C. — Mac’s Speed Shop has snapped up a prime space in Concord.

The popular barbecue joint has signed a lease for a roughly 7,000-square-foot building — formerly home to Sticky Fingers. It is at 8021 Concord Mills Blvd., just off the Interstate 85 Speedway Boulevard exit. That makes the restaurant neighbors with Concord Mills mall and Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The location should open by early summer.

“We’ve been looking for a number of years. We finally found the right deal for us,” says Shang Skipper, president of Mac’s Hospitality Group.

Skipper says the Concord restaurant will cost between $2 million and $3 million. Construction on that location should start by March.
