CORNELIUS, N.C. — A search warrant shows Cornelius police once believed Madalina Cojocari could have been sexually exploited.
Documents show police seized a phone weeks after Cojocari was last seen getting off her school bus in 2022.
The phone had 37 unread messages on a Discord account, which is an app where you can talk in private chat rooms.
Police, at the time, believed the account belonged to Cojocari.
Both of Madalina’s parents were found guilty of failing to report her missing.
Her mother, Diana Cojocari, left the country after she was released from jail.
