CHARLOTTE — Police detained a 31-year-old man Sunday after security footage showed him using a cellphone to try to take photos under young girls’ skirts inside the Target at the Blakeney shopping center on Rea Road, according to court records.
Adam Tyler Shrader was taken into custody after store security reported his behavior to responding officers.
Target Loss Prevention staff alerted police that Shrader was following young girls around the south Charlotte store. Responding officers subsequently reviewed store video surveillance, which recorded Shrader targeting multiple victims.
Surveillance video showed Shrader approach a 17-year-old female victim from behind as she stood near the end of an aisle. Shrader squatted behind her, extended his arm with his phone in hand and positioned the camera under her skirt without her knowledge, an affidavit stated.
Officers also observed Shrader stalking three 15-year-old girls and following them into the girls’ clothing section. Shrader positioned himself with a clothing rack between himself and the teenagers, squatted down and stuck his arm through the rack in an attempt to place his phone behind them, court records indicated.
Shrader was detained after following the three 15-year-old girls toward the store’s checkout area. At the time officers stopped him, Shrader was pushing an empty shopping cart and holding a bottle of orange Fanta.
