Man charged after 71-year-old found shot to death outside Monroe home

MONROE, N.C. — Police arrested 29-year-old Christopher Walker after they say he shot and killed a 71-year-old man Sunday night outside a home they shared in Monroe.

Officers responded to a shots fired call around 9:45 p.m. at a home on English Street.

Upon arrival, officers said they found Archie Blount beside his vehicle, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

While investigating, police said they were called to a neighboring home where they found Walker and a weapon.

Walker has been charged with first-degree murder.

Investigators are working to determine the events leading up to the shooting. Officers said the men lived together in the home but did not clarify their relationship.
