Man charged with assault after knife attack in Wesley Chapel

WESLEY CHAPEL, N.C. — A man faces criminal charges after two people were injured in a knife attack in Wesley Chapel.

Chantrell Ross was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon following the incident on Pumpernickel Lane.

Deputies responded to a disturbance in the 6100 block of Pumpernickel Lane. Officers were notified while en route that a knife was involved in the dispute and that multiple people had been cut and were bleeding.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies secured the area and located two victims. A male victim suffered a laceration to his face, while a female victim sustained a laceration to her hand.

Both victims received medical treatment for their injuries and are expected to make a full recovery.

Ross had fled the area prior to the arrival of law enforcement. While searching the surrounding neighborhood, deputies spotted Ross walking back toward the residence covered in blood. He was taken into custody without incident.

Following the investigation, Ross was booked into the Union County Detention Center. He remains held at the facility under a $100,000 secured bond.

Back in August, charges against Ross in an accused dog attack were dismissed.
