Mansion of Charlotte Checkers owner among priciest home sales in June

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Checkers owner Michael Kahn and wife Wendy sold their south Charlotte mansion for nearly $3.3 million last month, making it one of Mecklenburg County’s most expensive home sales in June.

Mecklenburg County property records show the Kahns paid about 18% higher than its recent sales price when purchasing the home in March 2010 for just shy of $4 million.

The nearly 12,000-square-foot mansion in the exclusive Seven Eagles neighborhood had been listed at several prices since the Kahns purchased it. In the spring of 2013, the mansion hit the market at its highest asking price: $4.85 million, according to Realtor.com. It was listed at $4.15 million in December and dropped to $3.85 million in May.

Although trading for a pretty penny, the south Charlotte estate was eclipsed in price last month by two other residential sales: a home under construction in Foxcroft that sold for just over $4 million and an Eastover property that garnered $3.85 million. The county’s 10 most expensive sales in June span several Charlotte neighborhoods as well as The Peninsula in Cornelius, ranging in price from $2 million to nearly $4.1 million.
