GASTONIA, N.C. — Gastonia police said a missing 16-year-old girl may be in Virginia with a 21-year-old man.
According to police, Sherly Elizabeth Morales Caniz was recently reported missing. Friends reported that she was last seen on Aug. 8 but that she has been in contact with her mother in Guatemala since that time.

GPD detectives are asking the public for help in locating a missing 16yo female.
Sherly Elizabeth Morales Caniz, was recently reported as missing. Det's believe she may be in Alexandria VA area with 21yo male

Investigators believe that Caniz may be in the Alexandria, Virginia, area with 21-year-old Ribaldo Lopez. Lopez may also go by the name of Lusvin Lopez Perez.
Caniz is described as approximately 5-feet tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has brown eyes and dark hair.
Police and family are concerned for Caniz’s welfare.
