MONROE, N.C. — The city of Monroe has a scam warning for business owners.
They say the scammer claims to be from someone in the Planning Commission.
The scammer emails a fake invoice to local businesses who recently went through a public hearing or applied for a permit.
The scammers demand more than $2,000.
Do not respond. Instead, report it to the police.
