Mooresville church gives out $6,000 worth of food to families in need

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Some people are turning to food pantries for the first time because of the coronavirus pandemic.

A Mooresville church hosted its second-ever pantry event because of that need.

Higher Purpose Church partnered with the aid group Convoy of Hope to give out $6,000 worth of food Saturday.

“We know there’s a lot of hungry people in the community and we realized if they don’t come here, they have to figure out how they’re going to eat, so we wanted to be a blessing and share the love of Christ by helping them meet that need,” said senior pastor Lawrence Williams.

The church also offered prayer services for anyone accepting food.
