Morganton doctor working under restrictions charged with sexual battery

MORGANTON, N.C. — A Morganton doctor has been charged with sexual battery for inappropriately touching a woman.

Dr. Diaa Hussein was reprimanded for similar behavior a few years ago and has been working under restrictions.

He wasn’t allowed to see female patients without another female worker in the room with him, according to the state medical board.

That was after Hussein was accused of inappropriately touching a patient and giving the patient his cellphone number five years ago.

Hussein has two practices in Morganton where his website says he treats patients for weight loss and opioid addictions.

He wasn’t at either of his practices Tuesday, according to workers, after being charged with three counts of sexual battery.

The warrants said that over the course of two weeks, Hussein touched a woman inappropriately on three occasions and at one point, put his hands in the victim’s pants pocket while asking if she had undergarments on.

“”Really surprised,” said former patient Carolyn Davis. “He was really good with me and was very professional. I had no problem with him, and I was in the exam room with him by myself.”

It is unclear if the alleged victim is currently a patient.

Channel 9 called Hussein Tuesday afternoon and he asked us to text him, but he hasn’t responded to our questions.
