NC cancer survivor volunteers at same hospital where he received treatment

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem cancer survivor is now volunteering at the same hospital where he received treatment.

In 2011, doctors diagnosed Aidan Byrd with bone cancer at just seven-years-old.

During his hospital stays, he became curious about science and medicine.

Now he’s preparing for medical school while helping kids through their own cancer journeys.
