CHARLOTTE — A lot of people are upset about Friday’s deadly officer-involved shooting in north Charlotte.
On Saturday, people gathered at a gas station to protest the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. They had been out there for hours.
More people are expected to join them at 7 p.m. for an additional protest.
Right now, investigators with the State Bureau of Investigation are looking into the exact circumstances of the shooting. That includes the direction in which police opened fie.
Sources told Channel 9’s Glenn Counts a preliminary examination of the body shows the man had no injuries to his back.
Eric Henderson, who is a friend of the man who was shot, claims to have witnessed the incident.
“If he was facing him, he would have landed on his back,” said Henderson. “He was on his face.”
He also said no family should have to go through that.
Henderson was arrested Friday for being in the crime scene. That’s how Channel 9 knows he was there.
Sources tell us the autopsy is scheduled for Monday and at that time, we should learn where on the body the man was shot.
