NC couple build Airbnb inspired by ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies, books

WOODFIN, N.C. — A couple in North Carolina are building an Airbnb in Buncombe County inspired by the “Lord of the Rings," WLOS reported.

Mike Parrish and his wife are building a Hobbit hole home based on the ones in “The Hobbit” and the “Lord of the Rings” books and movies.

“I’m not just a casual fan, I’m a huge fan,” Parrish said.

The 800-square-foot, one-bed, one-bath home is about 90 percent underground.

It includes a hobbit hole’s signature round wooden door.

“What we want is to just have an area where people can come and bring their kids and just leave with an unforgettable experience,” Parrish said.

The hobbit hole home is expected to be finished in about two months.

Parrish and his wife haven’t decided how much they will charge per night to stay there.

“We’re coming up with what we hope will be the coolest hobbit home on the East Coast,” Parrish said.
