CHARLOTTE — For the first time since the project’s revival, N.C. Department of Transportation Sec. Daniel Johnson will be in Charlotte on Friday to address the I-77 toll lane project.
Johnson and Charlotte Mayor Rob Harrington are expected to discuss community benefits that will happen because of the toll lane project. It is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
Charlotte City Council’s Intergovernmental Committee met Thursday. Members are planning to create a working group to help develop the final community benefits plan.
“We heard from residents, businesses in the corridor so I appreciate we will have the representation and make up of people who live in the communities,” Councilwoman Dimple Ajmera, D-At Large, said.
The working group will include people who live along the I-77 corridor where the toll lanes are being built.
The I-77 Toll Lane Community Engagement Center will also reopen Friday.
