GAFFNEY, S.C. — There’s a push for new laws to keep kids safe at bus stops in South Carolina.
It’s in response to the deadly shooting of a 17-year-old on his way to school in Gaffney last week.
A former councilwoman is now pushing for the June Act. It would create bus stop safety zones with enhanced penalties for certain gun-related crimes. She also wants a larger police presence at high-risk bus stops.
