CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is responding to an officer-involved shooting Friday afternoon along Lasalle Street and Newland Road in north Charlotte.
A woman said police shot her nephew.
“Very sad this happened,” said Angela Steele, the aunt. “He should have never been shot in the back. It’s other alternatives than dealing with these guns. Put them down. Leave them alone. My nephew never bothered people like that.”
No CMPD officers were injured during the incident.
The investigation was near a shooting that happened moments earlier at Atando and Statesville avenues.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom was over the scene were dozens of CMPD cruisers lined the roads. Expect traffic delays.
