CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — One person is dead after a crash on Highway 64 in Caldwell County on Saturday, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the collision happened around 12:55 p.m. near Charles White Lane.
The investigation showed that a Nissan Xterra was traveling east on Highway 64 when it swerved left of the center line and crashed head-on into a Toyota Corolla.
The driver of the Nissan, Swayne Ross Bryant Jr, 36, of Lenoir, was seriously hurt and transported to the Caldwell Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla Leonarda Martinez Pichardo, 65, of Lenoir, died at the scene.
Bryant is charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.
