CHARLOTTE — A 67-year-old man was struck and killed Thursday night at a busy intersection in southeast Charlotte, officials said. Another person was treated for minor injuries.

Monroe Road at Sardis Road North was shut down after the collision.

An 86-year-old man was driving a 1999 Lexus LS400 when he struck Curt Thomas McCoy on Monroe Road.

McCoy was not at a crosswalk and was walking across the road while wearing dark-colored clothing, police said. He died at the scene, police said.

Speed does not appear to be a contributing factor.

The driver of the Lexus was not impaired.

Toxicology results are pending.

The driver and passenger had minor injuries.
