Person hit by train in north Charlotte, MEDIC says

CHARLOTTE — A man has died after being hit by a train last week in north Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

On October 9, police received reports about a person being hit by a CSX train on Rozzelles Ferry Road near Honeywood Avenue.

At the scene, police found an unresponsive man who appeared to have been struck by a train.

The man, later identified as 79-year-old Curtis Lee Hayes, was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Hayes would die from his injuries on October 12, according to police.

CMPD said an investigation indicates Hayes was walking westbound on Honeywood Avenue towards Rozzelles Ferry Road when he was struck by a train.
