Person seriously hurt following police chase that ended in crash in Pineville, officers say

PINEVILLE, N.C. — A person was seriously hurt following a police chase that ended in a crash in Pineville Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

Pineville police said Fort Mill police officers were chasing a car that ended up crashing near the Autobell Car Wash on South Polk Street.

Officers said one person jumped out and ran away. That caused a lockdown at Pineville Elementary, which has since been lifted.

The person was eventually taken into custody, along with another person in the car, according to police.

Officials have not identified the person who was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Fort Mill police are investigating the incident.
