Suspect arrested, accused of shooting man in head with crossbow

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies have captured the man who they believe shot a man in the head with a crossbow Wednesday morning in Burke County.

Channel 9′s Dave Faherty said paramedics put the victim in the back of the ambulance after he was struck in the head with an arrow at a home on Hunterwood Drive.

Faherty learned the victim has serious injuries and was taken to the hospital with the arrow still in his head. He was then flown to a trauma center.

Deputies named Siegried “Ziggy” Jackson as a person of interest in the case. A reverse 911 call was sent out around 10:30 a.m. asking residents within five miles of the home to be on the lookout for him.

The sheriff believes Jackson intentionally shot the man and ran off. He was arrested around 1:15 p.m. behind a home on Cape Hickory Road, which is about a half-mile from where the assault happened.

Jackson has multiple convictions including one for assault with a deadly weapon.

He has been charged with felonious assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
