One man has died and another person was taken to the hospital after a crash in Belmont Friday morning.
BELMONT, N.C. — Officials said, the passenger, Eddie Ray Pullen, 47, of Gastonia was killed. Pullen was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. in the 6100 block of Wilkinson Boulevard about a half mile from Belmont-Mount Holly Road.
When a truck carrying a utility pole took a right turn, the pole pushed out and into the passenger side of a city truck, troopers said.
The city truck drove into the opposite lanes of traffic, hit a gate, went airborne and crashed.
The passenger in the truck was killed and the driver is in critical condition, according to officials.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
