Police: Baby sitter accused of showing porn to minors

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A woman accused of showing pornography to three kids under the age of 13 is out of jail.

Police say she was the kids' baby sitter. The mother of the children told Eyewitness News she had no idea that was going on until her 7-year-old told her she had seen naked women on the computer when the baby sitter was watching them.

"She was like, 'Why would women want to look at pictures of naked women?'" the mom said. Eyewitness News is protecting her identity to protect the identity of the victims.

The baby sitter allegedly showed three kids, ages 6, 7 and 12, porn in their Hickory apartment, according to the indictment.

"I went back and looked at the history on my computer, and it was nothing but pornography," the mother said.

The accused baby sitter, 25-year-old Amanda Bell, is back home in the same apartment complex. Her neighbors were shocked by the allegations.

"It's up to us adults to keep them safe and protect them," neighbor Wendy Alvarado said. "They're only kids once. Why would you want to rob them of their innocence by something like that?"

The victims have moved out of state after what happened, and now Bell is facing years in prison.

Eyewitness News asked Alvarado if she hopes Bell is innocent.

"I would pray that she was," Alvarado said. "But, if she's not, I pray for the kids."

According to the indictment, Bell is facing multiple charges of indecent liberties with children, and disseminating obscenity to them. A man who told Eyewitness News he's her fiancé would not talk on camera, but did say they are fighting the charges and have a lawyer.
