SALISBURY, N.C. — One person was killed and two others injured after a shooting in Salisbury Wednesday night, city police said.
Police say someone called 911 to report a disturbance at the house on Rachel Lane.
When officers arrived, they found Nathan Rupert Pant shot to death.
Investigators said one of the people shot was Wilks, she lives in the house. They said a bullet hit her in the leg. She was rushed to the hospital and eventually released.
The victim's 17-year-old son said he was in his room at the house when he heard tussling and gunshots.
The son told officials that his mother invited a friend over, who brought Desmine Marnic Kirkland, 28.
Kirkland and Pant got into a dispute leading to the deadly shooting and Wilks was caught in the gunfire, the son told police.
Investigators said Kirkland was arrested for murder in 2007. He was convicted of second-degree murder and accessory after the fact in 2010.
Kirkland showed up at the hospital on his own with a gunshot wound after the shooting, officers said.
