Police: More than 50 people present when woman shot, killed in Iredell County

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Police are investigating after a woman was found shot to death on a street in Iredell County early Saturday morning.

The shooting happened just after 2:30 a.m. on Fifth Street in Statesville.

Officers said they responded to the area after hearing several gunshots. When they got there, they found 20-year-old Teyhonnah Daye lying in the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers immediately started performing CPR until EMS crews arrived to take her to the hospital, where she later died.

Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting. Officials said there was a crowd of more than 50 people present when the shooting happened.

No arrests have been made, but officers are asking if anyone has information or witnessed the shooting to call the Statesville Police Department.
