Man charged in fatal shooting at northeast Charlotte motel

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police arrested a man accused of fatally shooting another man at a northeast Charlotte motel.

Demarco Crawford, 35, has been charged with the murder of 25-year-old Justin Fuller, police said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the shooting happened just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday at the Holiday Motel at the corner of North Tryon Street and Austin Drive.

Upon arrival, officers said they found Fuller in a motel room where he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound.

According to CMPD, the initial investigation revealed Fuller was visiting several others who were staying in the motel when an argument occurred.

Officials told Channel 9 that the shooter left after the argument, returned a short a time later and knocked on the motel room door. When Fuller opened the door, he was shot.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective. Detective Dollar is the lead detective assigned to the case.
