Power outage, cut gas line closes Queens Road in Myers Park for hours

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Queens Road in Myers Park was closed for hours Tuesday morning while crews worked to contain a gas leak after a driver crashed into a pole overnight, knocking out power to more than 200 people in the area.

Officials told Channel 9 that a vehicle slammed into a utility pole around 1 a.m., knocking out the power.

When crews began work to fix the damaged pole, they accidentally clipped a gas line.

Queens Road was closed between Hermitage Court and Henley Place while crews worked to repair everything. Duke Energy officials said the power was restored by 10 a.m.
