CHARLOTTE — More than 7,700 employees work for the city of Charlotte, nearly 650 of whom are pulling in six-figure salaries.
The highest-paid city employee, with an annual salary of $379,587, is City Manager Marcus Jones. That figure is a 13.7% increase from 2019, when CBJ last examined city of Charlotte salaries.

Next is Charlotte Area Transit System CEO John Lewis, followed by Brent Cagle, former aviation director and current assistant city manager. City attorney Patrick Baker and Tracy Dodson, economic development director, round out the top five.
