Puppy rescued from storm drain after SC deputy steps in

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. — A puppy was rescued Friday from a storm drain after a South Carolina deputy stepped in, WCIV reported.

Charleston County neighbors were concerned when they saw a dog circling a storm drain and found another dog trapped inside.

Deputy Sarah Hake arrived at the scene and climbed into the storm drain head first to rescue the puppy.

According to authorities, it was the only way to rescue the puppy because a concrete slab was covering the drain.

“We know climbing into a storm drain around Halloween can make some a little nervous, so we thank Deputy Hake for meeting this challenge for the sake of a four-legged friend,” officials said.

The dog was not hurt, and she and the other dog were taken to the Charleston Animal Society.
