CHARLOTTE — The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte is distributing 250 free backpacks filled with school supplies at the Oak Forest Red Shield Youth Center ahead of the upcoming Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools academic year.
The community-wide giveaway is open to all students and families, with no eligibility requirements.
The Salvation Army is looking to help ensure local students begin the school year confident and prepared.
The backpack giveaway will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Saturday, while supplies last.
