COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina has again shattered its daily record for newly reported COVID-19 cases.
Health officials confirmed a record-setting 2,470 new cases one week ago.

On Friday, they said the state had confirmed another 3,137 cases.
The state has recorded more than 220,000 cases and 4,000 deaths since the start of the outbreak. The rising numbers come as the state lays out its coronavirus vaccination plan.
Officials say that with limited supplies, the vaccine isn’t an immediate solution. State epidemiologist Linda Bell warned earlier this week that South Carolina could see another 3,000 deaths due to the coronavirus on its current trajectory.
