Suspect arrested in Lincoln County after domestic dispute leads to deadly beating, deputies say

LINCOLNTON, N.C. — A woman was beaten to death during a domestic disturbance Tuesday morning, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

It happened at a home on the 2700 block of Lee Lawing Road around 10:30 a.m.

Deputies said they responded to the home after receiving a call from 68-year-old Clarence Dobbs Pinckney.

Pinckney confessed to the sheriff’s office that he had killed his wife. He has been charged with first-degree murder.

Deputies said Pinckney was taken into custody without incident. He is being held without bond at the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center.
