GASTONIA, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they tracked down a murder suspect in a Gastonia neighborhood Friday morning.

Police said they have arrested Santario Miller who was wanted in the murder of Shalamar Venable in uptown Charlotte last month.
Channel 9 could see Gastonia police officers carrying rifles on Ransom Street and looking through the neighborhood. Dozens of officers, including a SWAT team, descended on the neighborhood.
Detectives with the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team said they received information that Miller was inside a residence in the Gastonia neighborhood and requested help from the Gastonia Police Department to find him.
Officials said Miller eventually surrendered to police after a standoff that lasted for hours.

He was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters, where he was being interviewed.

Detectives had put out a warning to the public about Miller earlier this week, calling him extremely dangerous.

Officials said he was wanted for the murder on May 21 on North Tryon Street.
Miller is facing murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charges.
