Troopers: 1 dead after truck flips in Chesterfield County crash

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — One person died after their truck ran off the road in Chesterfield County, troopers said.

Highway patrol said the crash happened at 5 a.m. Saturday on Hartsville-Ruby Road near Cedar Creek Road, about 7 miles east of the Town of McBee.

Troopers said the driver of a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado was heading south on Hartsville-Ruby Road when the truck ran off the right side of the road. It then corrected and ran off the left side of the road before it hit a ditch, flipped, and hit several trees, investigators said.

The driver, who was the only person in the truck, died at the scene, highway patrol said.
