UNION COUNTY, N.C. — UPDATE: Joan Bucaria has been located and is safe, the sheriff said.

Previous coverage: The Union County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance to locate 91-year-old Joan Bucaria, who was last seen at 9:30 p.m. at her residence at 417 Huntington Creek Rd. in Weddington.
Authorities suspect Bucaria left the home on foot at an unknown time during the night. Sheriff’s officials noted that Bucaria has cognitive issues and urged community members to remain alert.
Bucaria is approximately 4 feet, 11 inches tall. She was last seen wearing a black shirt with multicolored flowers and black pants.
Law enforcement officials have not specified the direction in which she departed. Anyone with information regarding Bucaria’s whereabouts or who may have seen her is asked to contact law enforcement immediately.
