UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Union County is cracking down on opioids by getting large amounts of heroin off the streets.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office arrested Gerardo Garcia Jr., who investigators say had 60 grams of heroin and cocaine.
It was one of several recent crackdowns.
Altogether, the Sheriff's Office has taken more than 200 grams of heroin off the streets within the past week in an initiative to reduce drug overdoses in the county.
