Unknown good Samaritan rescues baby trapped in car

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — A terrifying car accident in Asheville ended with a miracle and a mystery after witnesses say a baby was trapped in the car when suddenly an unknown man appeared and rescued the child before disappearing.

The car was on its side inside a building.

It took nearly two hours to pull the car free.

Police said the car jumped a curb before slamming into a parked car flipping it into the pharmacy.

Two people, including a baby, were trapped inside the car.

Then, a good Samaritan came to the rescue.

"A guy come out of nowhere, jumped up, opened the door, we held the car, and he went in and got the baby, car seat and all, passed off the baby,” said pharmacy employee Sandy Banks.

Witnesses now want to say thank you to mystery man.

“Even the EMT paramedics was asking who he was,” Banks said. “We don't know. He got that baby out with one hand, the whole car seat and he just disappeared.”

Authorities say the driver had serious injuries, but the child was not hurt, and the identity of the good Samaritan is still unknown.
