CHARLOTTE — Mecklenburg County park officials are quickly finding out there is more in the Freedom Park pond than just fish.
The county says workers have found picnic tables, tires, chunks of asphalt, and fishing line and poles in the water.

The pond is about 5.3 acres in surface area with an average depth of 4 and a half feet.
It hasn’t been drenched since 1947.
