13-year-old robbed after finding masked gunman inside Huntersville home

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Police are looking for the person they said broke into a Huntersville home Thursday morning and robbed a 13-year-old boy at gunpoint.

The Huntersville Police Department tweeted that the crime at a home on Glengarrie Lane in the Stephens Grove neighborhood.

Officers said the teen walked into his house around 10:30 a.m. and found the masked gunman inside.

After stealing money from the teen, police said the thief pushed him down the stairs.

The boy suffered minor injuries from the fall but is expected to be OK.

The suspect was described as 6 feet tall with a thin build.

"It’s very concerning, especially in suburbia,” neighbor Joshua Scott said. “Especially in a neighborhood as tucked in as this one.”

Several schools were placed on a temporary lockdown while officers investigated, but police tweeted that there was no danger to the community.
