VP nominee Kamala Harris reschedules Charlotte visit after staffers test positive for COVID-19

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris is expected to make a campaign stop in Charlotte and Asheville on Wednesday as early voting continues across the state.

The Biden-Harris campaign did not announce where she will stop in the two cities or what time.

Harris was originally scheduled to visit North Carolina last Thursday, but was forced to cancel her trip when two people closely involved with the campaign tested positive for COVID-19.

She held a virtual event that night encouraging voters to cast their vote early. Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles, Congresswoman Alma Adams and leaders across the state joined Harris to celebrate the first day of in-person early voting.

This will be the sixth trip to North Carolina from a principal member of the Biden-Harris campaign since Sept. 23.

Former Vice President Joe Biden visited Durham on Sunday, where he encouraged voters to vote early and attended a virtual meeting with African American faith leaders in the area. He also visited Charlotte on Sept. 23, where he hosted a Black Economic Summit and spoke with local business owners.

Harris' trip coincides with President Donald Trump’s visit to North Carolina. Trump will be in Gastonia on Wednesday.
