CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Pike’s Old Fashioned Soda Shop owner Randy Chitwood sees new life for the beloved brand in the Charlotte market — though what that looks like is still being framed out.
It’s a bittersweet time for Chitwood. Pike’s closed up shop at The Design Center for the Carolinas in May, after being a fixture there for nearly 20 years.
“It was tough. That was a hard decision and situation,” Chitwood says. “I haven’t been back over.”
Shake Shack has confirmed plans to open in the space next year, after months of speculation it was headed to South End.
