GASTONIA, N.C. — Rescue crews from three different agencies responded to Crowder's Mountain Tuesday afternoon after a woman fell 15 feet while hiking.
The rescue happened shortly after noon near the State Park Road Entrance to the mountain in Gastonia.
A woman was hiking with another climber on the mountain when she fell about 15 feet near David's Castle, which authorities said is a mile away from radio towers toward the north end of the mountain.
Officials said when rescue crews got to the mountain, they had to hike about a mile in tough conditions to reach the woman.
Rescue crews brought her down the mountain and took her to Caromont Regional Medical Center. Officials said she will be OK.
Authorities said 20 people from the Gastonia Fire Department, Gaston Emergency Medical Services, and Crowder's Mountain Fire and Rescue helped with the rescue.
No other injuries were reported.
