HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — One person was hospitalized Wednesday night after lightning struck a home in Huntersville, fire officials said.
The lightning strike happened around 7:30 p.m. on Taunton Drive in the Wynfield Creek neighborhood.

Firefighters said a man inside the home was seriously hurt when lightning struck the chimney, causing it to explode.
Debris from the chimney and a shattered skylight hit the man, officials said.
The homeowner was rushed to the hospital, and his condition was not released.
Firefighters said there was never a fire at the home.
