CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — An historic plane that was piloted earlier Friday by Capt. Sully Sullenberger had to make an emergency landing while trying to make its return flight.
CHOPPER 9: Capt. Sully lands historic plane in Charlotte
Sullenberger and his co-pilot, Jeff Skiles, flew a 1958 DC7 from the Opa Locka, Fla., airport to Charlotte to benefit the Historical Flight Foundation. The plane arrived in Charlotte around noon.
The plane had just taken off on its return flight on Friday afternoon when it had to make an emergency landing because of an engine problem. Sullenberger was not piloting the plane on the return flight.
